Marvel’s Doctor Strange
Experience Campaign
Global and American strategy → Multi-market cultural builds
A non-traditional launch ecosystem designed to introduce Doctor Strange as a new kind of Marvel hero through immersive, dimensional storytelling
Problem
Doctor Strange was a first-time character with abstract powers and unfamiliar mythology. Traditional marketing alone couldn’t convey the scale, tone, or mind-bending nature of the character to a mainstream audience.
Solution
We developed a suite of non-traditional executions including motion key visuals, social countdowns, and AR and VR experiences that visually distorted reality itself. Each touchpoint echoed the film’s themes of time, space, and perception, turning the campaign into an extension of the Strange universe rather than promotion around it.
Results
The work generated significant cultural buzz ahead of release and helped establish Doctor Strange as a major new Marvel franchise. The film went on to gross approximately $677.8M worldwide, a standout result for a single-character debut at the time, proving the power of immersive storytelling to launch new IP at scale.
